Title or short description:
Portrait of Achille Morgenroth, 1930
Full description:
A black and white photograph of Achille Morgenroth, a sailor, taken at Robert Marine-Photo in Toulon, which I think was a portrait studio for sailors in Toulon, the main French naval port. The photograph features Morgenroth in sailor's uniform, and on the back is written a handwritten note to the writer E.M. Forster, with the date. At the bottom left the photograph has the studio's stamp, which is how we can identify where it was taken. It reads "ROBERT MARINE-PHOTO TOULON".
