Heritage Coffee Shop Dinner Menu
Full description:This work is a menu from the Heritage Coffee Shop. The menu gives two addresses: “23rd Street on Lexington Avenue (Under the George Washington Hotel)” and “19 Lexington Avenue, New York City, N. Y.” The telephone number is written without the area code: 777-2595. The George Washington Hotel mentioned in the first address opened in 1928 but according to Google reviews, this hotel has been permanently closed. This menu itself has four (4) pages with the dimensions: 13 5/8 x 9 13/16 in. There is also an added attachment that has one (1) page with the dimensions: 11 1/2 x 8 9/16 in. The menu’s descriptors for food items includes: "vitamins," "high protein", and "lo-lo calories", as well as "waist watchers platters" and "lo-cal salad.” This indicates a particular consideration of healthy fare that emerged in the mid-twentieth century. However, the exact publishing date of the work is unknown.
