Mary Porter (far right) poses in pyjamas with two friends. On the back of this snapshot is written ‘Blandford, 1919’. Blandford, in Dorset in southwest England, was the site of the Royal Engineers Signal Service, which handled the British Army’s communications during the First World War, such as radio signals and motorcycle despatch.
