This work is a photographic contact sheet depicting 44 thumbnail portraits of the author, art historian and critic Brian Sewell (1931–2015). The document was deposited at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art (ARCHON National Repository Number 3010) without attribution or any further contextual documentation as part of Sewell's archive. The portraits show Sewell as a middle-aged man situated within a domestic interior, draped in exotic fabrics, photographed from a number of different angles.
