The lyrics were written and sung by Benny Hill - whose real name was Alfred Hawthorne Hill. benny Hill was his stage name. According to my research the song was first performed on television in the 1970's and recorded as a song in 1971 on the Columbia record label. Columbia was later taken over by Sony Music. It was a very popular comical song at the time of release.
