Gwillim Correspondence 1801-1807
Full description:The Gwillim correspondence consists of four volumes of manuscript letters written by Elizabeth Gwillim née Symonds (1763-1807), and her sister Mary Symonds (b. 1772) during their residence in Madras (Chennai) between 1801 and 1807, the year of Elizabeth's death, plus one letter from Sir Henry Gwillim written in 1809. The letters are held in the India Office Records and Private Papers, British Library (Mss Eur C240). The letters were purchased by the BL in 1971.

In 2006, McGill University Library in Montreal acquired a copy of the microfilm of the letters. In September 2019, McGill Library purchased scans of the original letters from the BL.
